The Qatar International Medical Devices & Healthcare Exhibition (QMED)​ returns for its third edition in 2026 as Qatar’s largest and most influential platform dedicated to medical devices, healthcare technologies, and innovations. Qatar opens the FIA World Endurance Championship 2026 with Prologue tests and race at Lusail Circuit

Nova Paw Festival Pearl2026 is Qatar’s first international pet festival, uniting families, pet lovers, and tourists.

Hosted at The Pearl Pets Park on April 3–4, 2026, it features world-class dog, and cat shows under WDF & WCF standards.

Highlights include fashion walks, grooming contests, agility shows, immersive Cat Dome, and iconic flying balloon.

With 10,000+ visitors expected, the festival blends competitions, entertainment, food, and adoption drives.

It positions Qatar as the regional hub for pet-friendly tourism, culture, and family experiences.

Qatar will host the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, the most prestigious and high-profile international men's basketball tournament. This edition will make history as the first ever to be held in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and it will also be the largest FIBA competition ever hosted in a single city.

In 2027, Doha will be a spectacle of passion, skill, and pride as 32 nations compete for the coveted title. Beyond the trophy, teams will also be aiming to secure direct qualification for the LA 2028 Olympic Games or a spot in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.

Haroon Mirza (b. 1977) is a multidisciplinary artist celebrated for his ability to transform invisible energetic currents into immersive physical encounters. Treating electricity as a fundamental sculptural material, he reconfigures electronics, solar panels, and circuitry into autonomous systems that generate their own rhythmic soundscapes and light patterns. Mirza’s approach recasts the vast context of which his prime material is found and used—from natural cycles to futurist imagination—forging a metaphysical inquiry that cut across different spiritual and cultural systems.

Spanning the Fire Station’s Gallery 3 and the Tower, Everything was, is and always will be is the first institutional solo presentation of Haroon Mirza in the GCC. The exhibition features two installations and a performance newly realized in response to the site’s architectural and daily landscape. At Gallery 3, the multimedia installation Musica Universalis (Dyson Sphere 03)​ (2026) references physicist Freeman Dyson’s (1923-2020) hypothetical megasphere designed to harvest a star’s energy; instead, Mirza utilizes a photovoltaic structure to draw power from an artificial light source, animating a sonic ecosystem. The synthetic energy conversion shifts back to the celestial in the Tower with Miraj Al Shams (2026), a public installation where choreographed light and sound are transduced from solar energy captured atop the building. The work activates daily at sunset to precede the Maghrib Adhan, bridging modern circuitry with cycles of prayer and cosmology. On February 4, 2026, Mirza intensifies the tension between the technological and mystical in a live context with Adam, Eve, Others and UFO in the Age of LLM’s, a performance that translates electronic signals from his original 2013 work into 111 Hz—a frequency associated with ancient spiritual resonance and neurophysiological response—realized by a live ensemble of eight singers, a soprano, and four actors and performers enacting a script centered on narratives of origin.

Underlying various visual components of all three works, such as the star-shaped solar array on top of the Tower, the light fixture in Gallery 3, and images on the screen during the performance, is the recently discovered Einstein Tile: a single aperiodic shape that can tessellate a surface infinitely without ever repeating. The pattern is embedded in an octagram, a symbol of divinity across cultures. Through these intersecting geometries, Mirza questions the distinction between human perception and natural law, mirroring his stance in that music is “organized noise.” Through this lens, Mirza suggests invention not as a modern disruption, but as a perceptual shift within a continuous thread in a reality that always was, is, and will be.

Ho Tzu Nyen (b. 1976) is an artist and filmmaker whose distinguished practice operates at the intersection of cinema, archival record, and subversive intervention. Spanning film, video, performance, and installation, his work interrogates how historical narratives are constructed and consumed within postcolonial and transnational landscapes, particularly across the shared borders of East and Southeast Asia. Drawing from regional histories, myths, philosophy, and popular culture, his projects stage encounters between fact and fiction, archival material and speculation.

Hotel Aporia (2019) is a seminal multi-channel installation that exemplifies Ho’s rigorous research and haunting visual language. It functions as a philosophical impasse—an "aporia"—that zooms in on the ideological shadows of interwar Japan. The work features a cast who were complexly entangled with this period through separate trajectories: kamikaze pilots, whose internalized sacrifice was a tactic for national victory; the philosophers of the Kyoto School with conflicted views on war lesser-known than their Zen and Buddhist thoughts; and cultural figures such as filmmaker Ozu Yasujiro (1903-1963) and animation director Yokoyama Ryuichi (1909-2001), both of whom were stationed in Southeast Asia as part of the Japanese Imperial Army’s propaganda units.

Ho delineates their accounts with an assembly of archival footage and excerpts from Ozu and Yokoyama’s films, with all protagonists’ faces redacted. These images are interwoven with correspondences between Ho and his Japanese collaborators, who observe this history from the present. Together, these layers explore the convergence of militarist imperialism and cultural and intellectual production during the Second World War in Japan.

Originally commissioned for the Aichi Triennale, the work was first sited within Kirakutei, a Taisho-era inn where kamikaze pilots spent their final nights. Even outside its original site, the installation preserves the spectral silhouettes of this traditional architecture, utilizing Ozu’s signature "tatami shots"—a perspective filmed from near floor level—to ground the viewer in a specific psychological space. Ho impels a physical encounter with history’s "ghosts": those figures and events that remain caught between life and death, or memory and erasure. Ultimately, Hotel Aporia positions history as a recurring frequency, suggesting that the ideological forces of the past persist in our contemporary reality.

Solo exhibition assembles a number of significant works made throughout Chung Seoyoung's career, tracing the evolution of her artistic language as it intersects with her lived experiences and collective memories.

Empire of Light: Visions and Voices of Afghanistan provides new perspectives on Afghanistan’s deep complexity, its vast artistic heritage, and what it means to preserve history for generations to come.

Little known and often misunderstood, Afghanistan has for millennia been an extraordinary place where cultures met, ideas blossomed, and creativity took new forms in art, architecture and the lives of its inhabitants.

This exhibition illuminates the country’s long history, highlighting how Afghanistan is far more than today’s headlines: it is a country of rich traditions, deep spiritual expressions, and artistic brilliance. Ancient cities, sacred sites, precious and rare objects all tell stories of those who have shaped its destiny and legacy. Nearly 100 objects are on display, ranging from archaeological findings, luxurious textiles and refined painting to works of contemporary art, video installations, and large-scale models.

The Toyota GR Yaris Cup Qatar returns for its second season, delivering high-intensity competition and adrenaline-filled racing in Qatar while showcasing the power and precision of the Toyota GR Yaris. The season will also feature the Regional Cup, held in Qatar, where Qatar and Kuwait compete with 10 race cars each in a fierce motorsport showdown. Organized by Al Abdulghani Motors, the championship provides an exciting racing experience driven by passion, skill, and performance on the track.

Waters’ Witness is a sound-based installation by artist and composer Tarek Atoui, presented in the Arab region for the first time. The exhibition explores how water shapes urban life through recordings from international port cities—including Athens, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Istanbul, Porto, Singapore, and Sydney—captured underwater and along coastal infrastructures.

Through sculptural elements made of marble, metal, ceramics, and stone, Atoui transforms sound into a spatial experience, inviting visitors to listen to the social, historical, and ecological realities of harbours. Mathaf’s presentation introduces a new chapter of the project that will focus on Qatar’s coastline and communities, reflecting the museum’s evolving engagement with contemporary sound practices.

To commemorate Mathaf’s 15th anniversary, Resolutions: Celebrating 15 years of Mathaf examines the Museum’s foundation through four defining areas: its origins as an artistic hub under Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed Al Thani’s pioneering efforts; its expansive  exhibition history;  it’s engagement with diverse forms of knowledge circulation in the Arab world; and its contribution to defining Arab identity through modernist representations in the post-independence era.

Over the years, Mathaf has produced several exhibitions as part of the Years of Culture initiative, including Our World is Burning during the Qatar-France 2020 Year of Culture, and has profiled numerous artists from its vast collection during the Qatar-MENASA 2022 and Qatar-Morocco 2024 Years of Culture.​

Jointly presented by the Qatar Preparatory School and the National Museum of Qatar, Countryside: A Place to Live, Not to Leave is an exhibition and manifesto by AMO/OMA in collaboration with Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) — that challenges urbanisation by rethinking the significance of the countryside.

Building on its original Guggenheim presentation in 2020, this project examines a historically connected region stretching from Africa through the Middle East and Central Asia to Mongolia and China. Despite representing 80% of the global population, this vast geographical arc remains densely populated yet largely without major cities, offering a compelling alternative to urban life. Led by AMO’s Rem Koolhaas and Samir Bantal, this project establishes a laboratory for reimagining rural living, bringing together Qatar Museums, QFFD (Qatar Fund for Development) and other Qatar-based institutions.​
